Physicians

The Ayurveda department oversees the working and coordination of all treatments, quality and allotments at the property.

Dr. Raman is the chief consultant and has been working with the property for 15 years. Dr. Madhuri V (DAM) who has been at the property for 16 years is the chief physician. She is a treasure trove of knowledge and is a retired Joint Director of Ayurveda, Kerala.

There are 5 other medical officers who assist with cases. Usually, one senior doctor and one junior doctor consult on the first day, post which daily consultations are conducted by the junior physicians. This is followed by a discharge consultation by both the doctors together where advices and follow up plans are discussed. Medicines are also sent along. Email follow ups are largely prevalent in order to assist guests who can visit only once a year.

Yoga and Meditation

Hatha yoga is offered through the day based on expertise levels by three renowned yoga masters. The yoga room is close to the treatment centers and is a quiet and peaceful retreat. Deepu who has been working at the property for 7 years, and Jabastian and Sridevi who assist, split the time between Manaltheeram and its sister concern Somatheeram resort.

There is an open platform close to the sea which is used occasionally when the weather is favorable for meditation and yoga.

Medicines

Medicines are manufactured at the production unit owned by Somatheeram group in the town. This enables doctors to correctly specify some special requirements and acquire them easily. Since the medicines are all created in the factory, the reliability is much higher.

Locally produced groceries and vegetables are acquired for most cases. There are a few vegetables and herbs that are grown within the property sand used abundantly. Milk and dairy products are acquired from the vechur cow farm present in the Somatheeram resort side.

Food

The buffet spread whipped up by Executive Chef Jaffar and Satish are very much in sync with Ayurveda and diet food. The dishes are classified on the basis of vatha, pitha, kapha (the three doshas). Oil, spices and unhealthy additives are avoided.

Breakfast is a great spread of fruits, juices, cereal, toast, jams and a variety of Kerala breakfast items with chutneys.

Lunch is served buffet style. An assortment of soups, refreshing drinks, a couple of kerala snacks, pickles and chutneys are followed by an array of salads and various types of rices that are accompanied by vatha, pitha or kapha specific curries and dishes served in earthen pots. Innovative desserts satisfy the sweet tooth despite adhering to diet norms.

Dinner follows a similar style as the lunch however, the menu is completely different.

The restaurant is sea facing and adorned with artefacts and furniture of antique value. This quaint feeling paired with refreshing breeze from the sea, makes this nutritious meal all the more special and rejuvenating.
